Kicking off our 2019 internship programme
Now in its third year, Summer of Biz has placed nearly 50 HR and Marketing interns into roles across Wellington since its inception in 2017. The experiences these interns have gained in the programme have helped motivate them in their studies, gain real work experience for their CV, and find permanent roles in their chosen field.
We’re back for 2019 on the same mission: connecting talented graduates with forward-thinking employers. Come along to our annual launch on Monday 18 March to hear past interns share their experiences.
It’s free to attend, at Victoria University, Rutherford House 105, 5.30pm, Monday 18 March. Register for the launch event here.
We had a range of employers come onboard in 2018, including government departments like the Ministry of Education, large corporates like TradeMe and small businesses like Uprise and Ziera Shoes. These employers were able to leverage the fresh ideas and enthusiasm of their interns, while their interns got a headstart on their chosen careers with valuable experience
“It is so rewarding to be able to work within a field that you feel passionate about and this internship has definitely given me a foot in the door.” – Danielle Deans, Digital Intern at WREDA (Wellington Regional Economic Development Agency).
Throughout the year, we support students with career, CV and work skill bootcamps to bridge the gap between university tuition and their first graduate roles. These are invaluable sessions that expose students to practical, hands-on skills and also allow networking with potential employers. To understand the process through the eyes of another student, take a read of Bernadine’s journey.
